Salt City Soapworks, LLC (www.saltcitysoapworks.com) is a science-driven skincare company based in Salt Lake City, handcrafting salt soaps, scrubs, and balms using unrefined Utah salt and locally sourced beeswax. In a largely unregulated industry where harmful, petroleum-based ingredients are common, we’re on a mission to raise the bar on ingredient transparency by creating high-performance products free from preservatives, sulfates, and hormone-disrupting chemicals. Our formulas are rooted in nature + science: raw salt naturally preserves, detoxifies, and delivers over 60 minerals to the skin, while our traceable beeswax keeps pesticides off your lips and body. Our growth strategy focuses on consumer education and eco-conscious skincare as we expand into retail, white labeling, and corporate gifting. Since launching in 2022, we’ve generated over $100K in revenue and built a loyal following through local markets, pop-ups, and word of mouth. We are a small, science-forward brand committed to sustainability, product integrity, and supporting both local suppliers and our planet.

Project Description

We’re looking for bold, creative students to help us grow Salt City Soapworks across social media and drive more qualified traffic to our website. Currently, our Shopify analytics show that only 5% of our website traffic is coming from Instagram, and we see strong opportunity to expand and optimize our presence on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. This project is ideal for students who enjoy testing unconventional ideas, experimenting with short-form video and emerging platforms, and using data to iterate quickly. Potential deliverables include refining brand messaging for social, identifying content pillars and target audience segments, designing and testing campaigns on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, and building a clear, actionable roadmap to increase social-driven website traffic—while still educating customers on the benefits of our locally handcrafted skincare products.
