Company Overview
LEAPcares (LEORAIN PATHWAYS, INC.) is an Utah-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strengthens families through early childhood education, workforce development, family support, and community partnerships. During Fiscal Year 2026–2027, LEAPcares will operate from three community centers while serving a grant-funded caseload of approximately 500 women and children through education, family case management, career pathways, and community engagement. LEAPnLearn Nonprofit aims to secure the future of childcare infrastructures by empowering culturally and linguistically diverse communities to own and operate their centers through a childcare management system.  Our focus is on providing childcare centers with the childcare management tools and professional development support they need to thrive, ensuring sustainability in providing quality childcare and early childhood education.  Through our Childcare Management Platform Development Project, we have been actively assisting childcare providers in establishing robust management practices, streamlining operations, and enhancing professional development. This project reflects our commitment to fostering inclusive environments where diversity is celebrated, and every child receives the care and education they deserve.

Project Description
Students on this project will build an AI-assisted course navigation feature for the LEAPcares online learning platform.   The deliverable includes a functional prototype, implementation plan, user documentation and recommendations for scaling the platform to support thousands of learners, families, educators, and community partners across Utah.  This project will give students the opportunity to produce UX/UI design, AI integration and navigation for an innovative community engagement platform with tremendous social impact while helping LEAPcares increase access to education and workforce opportunities.

Students on this project will work as members of an interdisciplinary team, applying classroom learning to real community challenges while gaining supervised professional experience in nonprofit leadership, research, community engagement, and direct service. This team will be are designed to complement university coursework while creating measurable outcomes for children and families. Additionally, students will gain experience in:
