Break Free Candy is a vegan candy company dedicated to creating ethical, allergen-friendly treats while building real opportunities for marginalized communities. We craft handmade candy bars that are dairy-free, egg-free, plant-based, and created with love. Our mission goes beyond sweets — we are committed to saving animals and creating as many jobs as possible for formerly incarcerated individuals, queer folks, and others who are often overlooked in traditional hiring spaces.

Project Description
Students on this project will utilize Adobe Illustrator and AI to new product packaging for the holidays.  This project will involve the following tasks, involving AI as much as possible to assist the effort in speed and quality:

This project involves the following:

Create packaging for three new candy bars.
Designing up to five additional packaging pieces.
These pieces may include wrappers, boxes, or bags.
Creating packaging for selected holiday products.
Making sure the new designs coordinate with the existing product line.
Creating digital product mockups.
Preparing editable Adobe Illustrator files and print-ready PDFs.

Students working on these projects should ideally:

Be proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
Understand typography, color, layout, and brand consistency.
Be comfortable working with packaging templates and dielines.
Understand how to prepare files for commercial printing.
Be able to follow an established brand style.
Be comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions.

Students will be provided with:

Existing Adobe Illustrator packaging files.
Logos, brand colors, and other brand elements.
Examples of our current packaging.
Product names, descriptions, ingredients, and required information.
Printer or manufacturer dyelines when available.
Feedback and direction throughout the process.
