Imessa - Nano particle Commercialization Roadmap Creation
Company Overview
Imessa Research is a startup based at the Altitude lab, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Imessa is developing Nanosyze, an automated analytical platform for nanoparticle separation and characterization, with applications in lipid nanoparticles, extracellular vesicles, and other nanomedicine systems. As Imessa transitions from product development toward commercialization, the company would benefit from developing and testing a systematic go-to-market strategy.
Project Description
Students on this project will heavily leverage AI to research customer segmentation to discover economic-value and perform pricing analysis, build a qualified prospect database, and will test outreach messaging, customer acquisition strategy, and ultimately deliver a practical commercialization roadmap.
Specifically this project will involve the following tasks:
Customer segmentation and discovery: Identify and prioritize potential early customer segments, including pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academic laboratories and core facilities, and contract research organizations. Interview potential users and decision makers to understand their current characterization workflows, unmet needs, purchasing criteria, and barriers to adopting a new analytical platform.
Economic value and pricing: Evaluate the economic value of Nanosyze for each major customer segment.
Specifically investigate:
What economic and operational value does Nanosyze provide to each customer segment?
What are customers currently spending, in money, time, personnel, instrumentation, or outsourced services, to accomplish the same work?
What are customers sacrificing because of limitations in their existing characterization methods?
Who influences, approves, and controls the purchasing decision?
At what price does adoption become difficult?
How should Nanosyze be priced and positioned relative to alternative instrumentation, outsourced characterization, and existing workflows?
Prospect development: Build a qualified database of prospective customers and relevant scientific and purchasing decision makers.
Outreach strategy: Develop and test messaging and outreach approaches for generating demonstrations, evaluations, collaborations, and ultimately sales.
Commercialization roadmap: Recommend a practical customer acquisition process and a 6–12 month commercialization roadmap that Imessa can continue executing after completion of the project.
If time permits, optionally the team can research and identify investors, strategic partners, and funding organizations particularly well aligned with analytical instrumentation and nanomedicine.
Summary of deliverables:
Customer segmentation and discovery findings, economic-value and pricing analysis, qualified prospect database, tested outreach messaging, customer acquisition strategy, and a practical commercialization roadmap.
