EoSight Diagnostics - Healthcare Workflow & Financial Value Analysis
Company Overview
EoSight is developing a biomarker-based point-of-care diagnostic technology “EoTracker” platform for chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) that identifies whether a patient has Type 2, or eosinophilic CRS (eCRS). This information could help physicians determine therapeutic decisions and postsurgical care management plans including whether a patient is an appropriate candidate for Type 2 targeted biologic therapies, such as Dupixent or Xolair. EoSight is seeking support to understand the financial impact of EoTracker on physicians and healthcare systems, particularly the revenue of the CRS care whether time and resource savings could translate into greater overall value for the healthcare system.
Project Description
Students on this project will research current rhinology CRS clinical workflows and billing to understand how the diagnostic could affect appointment time, repeat visits, resource utilization, treatment decisions, and the cost of care in tertiary healthcare institutions. They will then evaluate the financial tradeoffs by the adoption of EoTracker in the clinical workflow: physician time, diagnostic instrument usage, administrative burden, and overall cost of care for CRS. The overall question is how much of these resources translate into the overall profit of the tertiary care system. Our hypothesis is that adopting EoTracker into the clinical workflow will enable the institution to expand the number of patients and also allow the hospital to reallocate its valuable resources (physician time and diagnostic instrumentation) from low-value CRS management to high-value disease management.
Students will research reimbursement and procedure economics and develop scenarios to estimate the potential financial impact for a health system. The final deliverable will be a financial and workflow analysis that outlines the potential costs, savings, and revenue opportunities associated with adopting EoSight’s first-in-kind EoTracker diagnostic platform. The analysis will identify the key factors that determine whether the technology creates or reduces financial value for healthcare institutions and provide recommendations on where EoSight’s economic value proposition is strongest.
