Data Science and Big Data Analyst - Full Time Position
About this Job
Incorporate strong Analytics knowledge with mathematics and statistics skills to create data models - predictive and prescriptive analytics and the ability to work with extremely large data sets that may be problematic for standard tools. This role includes Data Science and Big Data professionals.
Data Scientist:
- Demonstrate expertise in machine learning (k-nearest neighbors, Random forests, Ensemble methods, etc.), and expertise in applying varied data mining techniques (supervised/unsupervised learning; classification, clustering, association etc.).
- Expected basic understanding of Statistics (statistical tests, distributions, likelihood estimators etc.) and fundamental science knowledge as multivariable calculus, linear algebra.
Big Data:
- Validate data that is extracted from structured and unstructured data inputs, databases, and other repositories, using scripts and other automated capabilities, logs, and queries. Enrich and transform the extracted data, as required. Create monitoring and reporting of the data flow through the ETL process. Perform data extractions, data purges, or data fixes in accordance with current internal procedures and policies.
Career Profile:
-The Data Scientist role is responsible for modeling complex problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. In addition to advanced analytic skills, this role is also proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets and communicating results.
- The Big Data role manage the ingestion data from various structured and unstructured data sources into Hadoop and other distributed Big Data systems. Enrich and transform the extracted data, as require, and create monitoring and reporting of the data flow through the ETL process.
Working knowledge:
- Strong foundation in coding; classes in Python, C++, C or C#, Java Script, Angular JS, D3.js, R
- Classes in statistics inferencing and familiarity in using statistical tool as SPSS and SAS
- Working with data at scale: familiarity with Apache, Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Map Reduce; Data access and management
- Classes in machine learning, neural nets or signal processing: Data mining (mainly for Data Science)
- Data visualization and communication (experience with tools as ggplot, d3.js etc.)
- Ability to show flexibility, initiative, and innovation when dealing with ambiguous and fast-paced situations.
