Electric Vehicle Validation Engineer

We are looking for a smart, enthusiastic Validation Engineer to join us in transforming an industry. In this position you will take direction from the Director of Support to develop and conduct vehicle validation test procedures and methodologies on Motiv’s products, including vehicles and individual components. You will be supported by Motiv’s engineering team; however, you are expected to develop expertise in the operation and testing of Motiv’s all-electric chassis and its components to independently provide top quality vehicle and sub-system validation.

This position is located in Foster City, CA, United States where you will have primary responsibility testing and validation Motiv Powered drivetrains. Your position will help us develop vehicles for clients who are delighted with our products and service. You will learn a lot about all aspects of company products and business arrangements while hopefully having a great time doing it. Passion and motivation are as important as the knowledge sets in being successful at Motiv. You must be self-motivated.

Requirements
  • Safety - preform all job functions and activities with safety as the paramount consideration in all activities
  • Maintain relationship with Motiv Support and Engineering teams to develop and clearly document test criteria and methodologies
  • Ensure timely completion of all vehicle engineering validation tests
  • Preform validation activities on current product platforms for both internal and external customers
  • Preform validation activities on new product development activities
  • Is directly involved with all aspects of executing test requests. Scope of activities to include preparation of/or review of test procedures, test equipment definition, test execution, and compilation of data reports
  • Is directly involved with internal and external customers. Customers to include Engineering within Motiv, product customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies
  • Creates/updates materials to schedule and conduct customer driver training
  • Install and build test equipment as needed
  • Develops relationships with outside labs for testing capabilities that may not exist internally
  • Travel as necessary to work with equipment vendors and outside testing facilities
  • Willing to work on and repair test articles as needed during validation activities

  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management
  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities
  •  Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management
  • Able to lift 50lbs as needed

Education and Experience
  • Associates degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient in HV Safety best practices
  • Basic knowledge HV Battery system hardware architecture and controls
  • Experience in data acquisition methods and best practices.
  • Creative and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Flexible/Versatile/adaptable to changing needs
  • Highly motivated, well organized, and good verbal communication skills
  • Experience with lab testing equipment
  • Having and maintaining a CDL with Full Air Brakes with a passenger endorsement is a plus
  • EV related experience preferred
