VP Product Management

The role of the VP of Product Management will be to lead the Product Management team to ensure continued development and growth of Motiv’s electric powertrain product line as well as identifying and bringing to market new products and services, including Motiv’s Data Products. 

Tasks:
Product Design
  • Refine and document product definition and product strategy across all Motiv’s products, including recommendations on pricing and product positioning
  • Ensure that product design supports this product strategy
  • Deeply understand customer needs and requirements through both direct customer interaction and feedback from Motiv’s Sales and Marketing teams
  • Work with the Customer Support team to transform customer feedback from fielded vehicles into product improvements and upgrades 
  • Action on manufacturing input with respect to manufacturability , component selection, and production testing feedback for design improvements, cost reduction and design for test
  • Develop and document (PRD) clear feature prioritization that includes justification and receives cross-departmental buy-in to guide the product roadmap
  • Lead the development of Motiv’s suite of data products. Manage a Data Products PM to execute Motiv’s Data Products strategy
  • Develop deep expertise and knowledge in the electric vehicle industry and commercially-available components, including traction motors and high-voltage batteries

Product Development and Build
  • Own, build, maintain, and execute the product roadmap across all products, including clear product versioning and release schedules
  • Work with engineering to support the design of software and hardware components and functionality
  • Manage the Product Documentation team and work with engineering and customer support to ensure the required product documentation is produced for both product implementation and customer support
  • Work with QA and engineering to ensure comprehensive product testing, resulting in high-quality product releases
  • Provide input to manufacturing on the development and manufacture of components in line with the product roadmap
  • Manage the relationship with suppliers of products resold by Motiv. e.g. Viriciti
  • Coordinate with Finance to develop budgets for the Product Management team and execute against these budgets

Sales and Marketing Support
  • Work with Marketing Communications to effectively position product in the marketplace and to develop supporting marketing materials
  • Work with policy group to provide support for grant applications and related product information requirements
  • Work with Sales to ensure the sales organization has the tools and support to successfully meet sales goals

Requirements:
  • BS or MS degree. MBA.
  • Demonstrated experience building products in the EV or related markets, with eight years of Product Management in a related field
  • Deep knowledge of Product Marketing
  • Experience in building and managing PM teams with responsibility for multiple products and markets
  • Proven ability to commercialize highly complex products, including project management of both internal and 3rd party engineers as well as cross functional teams
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Demonstrated conceptual ability surrounding new technologies and products, and the demonstrated grit, discipline, and leadership to drive them to commercialization
