Region 3 is hiring a hydraulic designer with the option of working in Roseburg or White City! In this key role, you will act a technical resource on hydraulic design aspects for moderately complex transportation related projects. Put your knowledge in action by developing hydraulic analysis, plans and designs and supporting mitigation efforts for hydraulic challenges in collaboration with the region's hydraulic engineer on highway construction and maintenance projects. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis and design routine to moderately complex water quality facilities.
- Scope project sites to provide topography analysis for available stormwater runoff and treatment facility locations.
- Design treatment facility that satisfies the regulatory requirements and physical characteristics of the site.
- Compose hydraulic reports for projects under the direction of a professional engineer (PE).
- Perform simple to moderately complex hydraulic designs for bridges, culverts, fish passages and stream-bank stabilization designs.
- Coordinate work with regulatory agencies and other ODOT offices.
- Respond to questions from the public, other ODOT offices and other agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Fundamentals of Engineering certificate (FE) AND one year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles and methods.
Special Qualifications:
- Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license, an acceptable driving record and the ability to drive are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).

- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to effectively handle competing priorities.
- Experience designing water quality/quantity features.
- Experience designing culvert repairs and culvert replacements.
Working Conditions:
- The majority of work is performed in an office environment with extensive computer use.
- Field work is regularly required and may require walking over rough terrain, near streams, and around or above bodies of water, in culverts, and other confined spaces during inclement weather conditions and emergencies.
- Noise exposure occurs in this position due to construction equipment, traffic, and other construction noise.
- Frequent travel is required during all types of weather and in emergency conditions throughout the region and some of the travel required is overnight.
