R&D Cyber Security Developer

Job Description:
Assist in research and development for decision support and analysis software in cyber security, including design, implementation, configuration, testing and evaluation.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Install, configure and modify network based and host-based security monitoring software. (15%)Perform system administration for specialized project computing platforms. (10%)Communicate with project team members, supervisors, and sponsors for timely implementation of project requirements. (5%)Prepare technical documentation and technical presentations. (5%)Other related functions as assigned.Design, develop, configure, test and integrate software to meet requirements of sponsored research projects. (65%)

Job Details:

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer/software engineering, computer science, math, or other applied sciences. Strong math background and technical writing skills. Ability to develop software in Java or C++, and at least one scripting language. Familiarity with TCP/IP and network packet analysis. Ability to incorporate new technology into project development. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, and effectively communicate with diverse groups. US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications
System administration experience with Linux and Windows. Experience applying software engineering principles of encapsulation, modularity, maintainability, testability, usability, etc. in software design and development. Strong technical writing skills. Experience with technical presentations. Demonstrated knowledge of virtual machine setup and configuration. Experience with securing servers and clients on a network system. Proficiency with TCP/IP and network packet analysis. Experience with network and host-based security monitoring and data analysis. Familiarity with security intrusion detection and incident response. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a GPA of 3.2 in relevant coursework

$69,500 - $80,000+/depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.   Some weekend, evening and holiday work. Frequent use of manuals and books.. Possible intrastate/interstate travel.
