Responsibilities
The Materials Science and Engineering department at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a postdoctoral associate in the area of molecular modeling of phase behaviors and transport of single- and multi-component fluids confined in nanoporous media. The position requires candidates with extensive experience in statistical thermodynamics, fluid phase behaviors, molecular dynamics (MD) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. In this position, you will have a unique opportunity to work on a multi-year research project funded by the United States Department of Energy’s (DOE) Basic Energy Science (BES) Program. The initial appointment(s) will be for one year with an extension up to two years, subject to satisfactory accomplishments and progress towards project goals during the first year.

QUALIFICATIONS

 
PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years.
 
PhD in Physical Chemistry/Chemical Physics, Chemical Engineering or other relevant areas of physical science.
 
Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills (in English).
 
A solid background knowledge and theoretical understanding in fluid phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties.
 
Extensive experiences in developing, implementing and conducting MD/MC simulations with widely used computational codes such as LAMMPS or other open-source molecular modeling software/code.
 
Relevant research accomplishments documented by publications in the scientific literature.
