Environmental Protection Specialist III

Under direction of the Office of Toxicity Assessment Manager, performs professional duties of a highly technical, scientific and sensitive nature in the areas of Environmental Toxicology and Human Health for Agency projects, permits and cleanup determinations, including human and ecological risk assessment protocols. Travels in performance of duties.

Education and Experience: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with coursework in the physical, life, or environmental science and requires three years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of pollution abatement or a related field, or, requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with coursework in physical, life or environmental science supplemented by a master's degree, and requires one year of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of pollution abatement or a related field.

Specialized Skills: Prefers experience in giving presentations and conducting questions/answer formats; experience in evaluation reports on paper and electronic media; experience in interpreting results of statistical analysis and applying statistical techniques to environmental data.

Specific Job Requirements: Requires the ability to utilize a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access software; requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel.
