Sales Operations Summer Intern

Who we are

Every day, journalists at the New York Times report more than 200 stories from dozens of countries around the world on topics ranging from major international events to the best way to roast a chicken. Those stories are read, listened to and watched by millions of users across our web and mobile products.

The Sales Operations Team is a team of 70 global members who support the advertising business in making sure all advertising campaigns deliver seamlessly. Our team is divided into Pre and Post-Sales support, with key functions including Planning in pre-sales and Campaign Management in post-sales.

Who should apply

We’re seeking an intellectually curious and passionate summer intern who is eager to dive into the various technologies and products that support the digital advertising business. If you have a background and interest in digital media, technology, and advertising, and would like to contribute and learn about the print and digital advertising ecosystem at a premium publisher, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

You will collaborate with various stakeholders in the Advertising department while contributing to and executing projects. With a focus on digital advertising, you will gain direct experience with staff in planning, campaign management, ad product development, ad technology, yield management and sales.

Areas of focus include:

  • Planning support: Help support print and digital plans by creating proposals using our order management and workflow tools
  • Project management: Assist with coordination and communication of key departmental projects, working with key stakeholders to deliver status updates
  • Order management system migration support: Assist with migration of campaign information from one platform to our new enterprise version
  • QBR development: Work with Ops leaders to create Quarterly Business Review presentations for delivery and review by entire department
  • Digital advertising environment evaluations: You will evaluate key trends in the market to help craft NYT positioning around areas like brand safety, viewability, third party pixeling and invalid traffic
