Mentoring Messaging Specialist Paid Intern

PURPOSES
The Mentoring Messaging Specialist Intern position is dedicated to helping the Mentoring Program at BYU-Pathway Worldwide grow and bless thousands of students. Mentors at BYU-Pathway Worldwide provide encouragement and coaching to students who experience challenges that prevent them from being successful and from completing PathwayConnect. The Mentoring Messaging Specialist Intern will help to raise awareness of this program, internally and externally, by assisting the Mentoring Department with projects related to proper marketing and messaging. They will also play a crucial role in the upcoming expansion of the program by developing plans and strategies to scale the program to meet a growing student population.
The internship is a four-month, paid position located in Salt Lake City with no benefits and no stipend for housing. The salary is $13.50 per hour. Hours are typically Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (40 hours/week).

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a professional public image for BYU-Pathway Worldwide to those within and outside of the organization
  • Research and gather data for marketing plans and strategies
  • Assist in the creation and roll-out of marketing plans and strategies
  • Act as a liaison between the Mentoring Department and Communications Department with projects, communications, etc.
  • Complete special projects related to internal and external marketing, web messaging, and content writing
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the Mentoring Department, and provide minor clerical and administrative assistance to the Mentor Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Must be U.S. Citizen
  • Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
  • Desired Majors: Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business
  • Successful completion of one or more marketing and/or public relations college courses
  • Prior experience with marketing plan development is preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with diverse and multi-cultural populations is preferred, but not required
  • Highly professional with mature judgement and demeanor
  • Exceptional organizational, writing, grammar skills
  • Highest proficiency with written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Sound judgement in decision making
  • Passionate about helping others achieve their goals and succeed
  • Highly detail-oriented and mindful of others’ needs
