Analyst Intern-School & Institutional Trust Funds Office (SITFO)

Analyst Intern 
 
This is a rare opportunity in Utah to gain practical experience with institutional investing. The School and Institutional Trust Funds Office (SITFO) was created in 2015 to manage state trust land revenues and existing corpus of approximately $2.5 billion. Current allocations are global, passive and active, public and private, and express a diversified mandate.  

 The Analyst Intern will work closely with SITFO staff and the Chief Investment Officer to assist in managing the agency affairs. The analyst intern will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of asset classes, investment strategies, and industry-staple software platforms. 

 • Internship begins spring/summer 2019 and is expected to continue across the following school year 
• The intern may be asked to work up to 20 hours/week
• This is a paid position, $10-$15/hour  

Examples of Duties:
• Assist in building economic, investment, and portfolio reporting processes. Software environments include Excel, Bloomberg, MPI, eVestment, Pitchbook, and Dynamo
• Conduct analysis for manager research in support of recommendations
• Additional one-off analysis projects consistent with institutional investment 
 
Qualifications:
• Interpersonal communication will be important in a small team.
•Articulating information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in presentations, memos, and tables is expected
• Analytical chops
• Ability to think and act independently to innovate and improve the workflow and processes
• Excellent skills in communication software such as Microsoft Office
• Ability to work with people, internally/externally in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
• Elite work ethic, high energy level, willingness to learn
• Capable of succeeding independently or in a team
• Must be highly organized 

 Preferences:
• Experience in Bloomberg
• Superior Excel skills 
• VBA, MATLAB, R, Python, or the like highly valued • Relevant coursework or practical experience
• A grade point average of at least 3.0
• Degree in finance, business, economics, econometrics, accounting, mathematics or related field or progress towards
