The mission of Amazon Global Security Operations is to mitigate security and operational risks to our associates, data, and physical assets. Amazon is looking for a detail-oriented summer intern to provide crisis management triage, coordination, and facilitation, security risk monitoring, analysis and alarm monitoring at Amazon’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) in Goodyear, AZ. The GSOC provides: global, regional, localized crisis management coordination and facilitation, global, and regional security risk monitoring and expertise, assistance with alarm monitoring services for Amazon’s locations, coordinates and facilitates the crisis management response to significant Workplace Incident Management events (workplace violence; WIM), troubleshoots issues with the alarm access control system, and issues credentials to critical data locations, among other daily services and projects.
Working with the Global Security Operations team will help the intern develop understanding around Amazon’s position on the safety and security of our people and assets. The GSOC Intern will work collaboratively with the team to ensure alignment between business priorities and GSOC goals. The Intern will work closely with team members to assess GSOC processes impacting the WWOPS footprint, and develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions to assist in our security posture, outreach programs, and key initiatives.
The position will be based in Goodyear, AZ, and will be a full-time, paid position running through the summer of 2019. The role is broad-based and will require an individual who can thrive in a dynamic environment. Successful candidates are organized, detail-oriented, and effective communicators.

Our goal with the GSOC program manager intern role is to have interns develop leadership and management skills in high volume environment. We hope that the interns develop a strong understanding and skill set in time and crisis management, critical and strategic thinking, and organization and planning through the management and enforcement of security measures and corporate policies within our fulfillment centers across the nation.

Basic Qualifications

Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree with a graduation date between December 2019 and June 2020

Preferred Qualifications
· Work, internship, or other leadership experience in a professional environment, with an emphasis and demonstrated interest in physical security and crisis management
· Interest in criminal justice, or business administration
· Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at all corporate levels
· Self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results
· Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in physical security and crisis management, and synthesize documents for internal customer consumption
· Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others, with the ability to intelligently build a course of action, analyze trade-offs, and make recommendations even in ambiguous situations
· Experience implementing best practices related to the utilization of physical security systems, investigation techniques, effective oversight of contract security officers, and distribution center loss mitigation techniques.
