Student Intern - Provider Development

This intern will support SelectHealth's Provider Development function by performing assigned tasks and assisting with projects, allowing the intern to gain an understanding of the business function. Here is what you need to know about our team:  
We establish and maintain effective business relationships with medical providers and act as a liaisons between provider offices and the Intermountain Healthcare/SelectHealth organization to help build and maintain effective relationships. The Provider Development team understands, educates and supports and acts as a liaison to providers for Primary Care Clinical Programs (PCCP). The team also acts as a resource to provide and/or direct offices to information on policies, procedures, services and programs and ensures maintenance of open lines of communication to anticipate and resolve issues, gathers information for policy steering, and communicates any changes to offices. The Team also has individuals that execute contracts with individual practitioners for new and existing SelectHealth products.
Essential Job Duties
1. Participates and is involved in a variety of projects that support the needs of the department / facility. Works with the members of the team to identify solutions and perform tasks that accomplish individual and team goals.
2. Attends team / department meetings and actively participate / take on opportunities to share knowledge and skills that are pertinent to the meeting.
3. Gains knowledge of the department's / facilities functions. May job shadow various roles within the department in order to understand their role in the organization.
4. Works with other members of the department / facility to accomplish assigned tasks.
5. Project Assistance: May be assigned one or more specific projects during the internship. Demonstrates an understanding of the process and accountability for the results / outcomes. Works independently or as a member of a team to accomplish the tasks necessary to successfully complete the project. Involves others when needed in a timely manner and work to meet project timelines.
6. Miscellaneous: Provides staff operational / clerical support to the department / facility as needed. 
Posting Specifics

  • Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours/week. Monday through Friday, business hours.
  • Department: SelectHealth - Provider Development (Murray, Utah - Greater Salt Lake City area)
  • Additional Details: Internship is expected to begin late May/early June 2019 (or sooner, if possible) and will conclude in August. Length is negotiable.
Minimum Requirements 
  • Student in business fields (Finance, Communications, Marketing, HR, legal, etc.), who is in their third or fourth year of an undergraduate program at an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications.
  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
Physical Requirements 
  • Speaking, hearing / listening, seeing, manual dexterity 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Pursing a degree, or is interested in, healthcare or business administration
  • Intermediate level or higher skills in Microsoft Excel or Access, or other querying program/language, such as SQL
