The role:

As an inspector, you will be a part of the project manager’s crew, providing engineering assistance in administering highway construction projects. A day in the life:
- Coordinate inspection activities on construction projects to meet the needs of the contractor’s work schedule.
- Serve as lead inspector on complex projects.
- Provide general oversight to assure contractor and DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) subcontractors meet requirements.
- Prepare or direct preparation of quality test summary book, supporting documentation notebooks and installation notebooks.
- Review and recommend any alterations or changes of contract plans and specifications as necessary.
- Initiate, negotiate and draft proposed contract change orders.
- Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and their representatives on assigned projects. Facilitate project related meetings as necessary.
- Work in both an office environment and in the field. More than half of your time will be in and around construction equipment on a daily basis.
- Occasional travel is expected, and working at project sites with exposure to rough terrain, inclement weather and hazardous plant and insect life may be required.

What we need:
- An Associate's degree in Engineering Technology from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering and four years of experience directly related to engineering.
OR
- Five and one-half years (66 months) of sub-professional engineering experience.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
