Income Maintenance Specialist I/II - Workforce
***$1,395.39 Bi-Weekly / Depends on Qualifications***
Responsible for case management of program participants, focusing on employment and self-sufficiency. Determines eligibility for Colorado Works Workforce programs.
- Communicates to applicants and clients the purpose and expectations of the El Paso County Colorado Works Program (TANF).
- Assists Colorado Works (TANF) clients in developing an Individual Plan (IP), assessing and removing any possible employment barriers; monitors, evaluates and tracks clients' progress toward meeting IP requirements and goals; provides case management techniques to insure IP compliance, re-assessing and re-evaluating clients' needs as required to move the client to a self-sufficiency status in an individualized and timely manner.
- Guides applicants/clients in obtaining assistance through community support services, child care and other resources.
- Participates in County mediation; prepares report for, attends and testifies at state evidentiary hearings for clients' appeals.
- Prepares paperwork, data entry functions, and other processes in accordance with State and County rules, regulations and policies; implements the Quality Assurance Program by ensuring accuracy and timeliness of work.
- Interviews Colorado Works (TANF) applicants/clients and assists them in understanding and completing required paperwork; assesses applicants for any employment barriers and records assessments and determines eligibility for various services.
- Ensures all Colorado Works (TANF) recipients are in a State or County defined work activity.
- Correctly and effectively documents work activities; coordinates Individual Federal TANF Time Limits.
- Monitors non-compliance with work activities and imposes sanction process if required.
- Attends and participates in training and educational workshops.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- To qualify for Income Maintenance Specialist I - Workforce:
- Minimum three (3) years full time work experience to include customer service, clerical and/or administrative work required. Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience; Associate's degree may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
- Workforce case management experience in a human services field highly desired.
- To qualify for Income Maintenance Specialist II - Workforce:
- Minimum four (4) years full time work experience to include customer service, clerical and/or administrative work required. Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience; Associate's degree may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
- Minimum one (1) year workforce case management experience in a human services field required.
- To qualify for Income Maintenance Specialist - Workforce at any level:
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Working knowledge of public assistance rules, regulations and procedures. Knowledge of community assistance resources and agencies.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with co-workers, clients, other agencies, and the public.
- Ability to efficiently plan, schedule and organize.
- Ability to assess situations and make prudent and appropriate decisions; ability to apply conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
- Ability to use standard office equipment to include computer, fax machine, copier, and telephone.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.
Licenses/Certificates
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.
Work Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a high volume office environment, some travel within the community will be required. May be exposed to clients in stressful situations. May be required to work evening and weekend hours.
