Environmental Protection Engineer I - Springfield, Illinois

Under the direction of the CAAPP Construction Unit Manager, performs routine engineering analysis of assigned permit applications; assists higher level engineers in the review of permit applications; participates in discussions with permit applicants and Agency engineers; reviews and updates the Permit Section computer data systems; and resolves permit fee issues. Based on Permit Section operational needs, including the employee's experience, this position may be assigned on an interim basis to a different Leadworker or Unit Manager in the Section by the Permit Section Manager to review various types of permit applications.

Education - Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with a Bachelor's degree in an engineering science.  

Desirable Requirements: Good oral and written communication skills; ability to make mathematical computations and calculations; ability to understand, interpret and apply state and federal rules, regulations, etc.; ability to plan, schedule and prioritize daily work; and good decision making abilities.

Specific Job Requirements: Requires travel and valid driver's license.
