The Fiscal Department has an immediate opening for a Contracts Officer. Some of the duties include developing contracts; monitoring, evaluating and reporting contract activities; providing training and technical assistance to users; and performing related work.

Example of Duties:

  • Manage the procurement process for service contracts in multiple disciplines. This includes the development of requests for proposals where required and managing the bid and contracting process in compliance with state and federal laws, rules and standards.
  • This position will train and assist others both in and out of the finance department on proper procurement policies and processes along with the interpretation of state purchasing code.
  • Act as a liaison to the Department of Purchasing when it comes to the proper preparation and processing of requests for proposals and contracts that require their involvement.
  • Required to carry delegated purchasing authority that is administered by the Department of Purchasing. 
  • Work with the grant administration team to help administer and manage grants and cooperative agreements.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: developing grants or contracts including identifying goals and timetables and determining program needs and funding; monitoring and evaluating grant or contract activities and expenditures; interpreting laws, regulations, and policies and advising on their requirements; evaluating statistical and financial information and developing reports of findings.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time
  • Ability to reach and bend for filing purposes
  • Some periods of heavy reading and typing required
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds when working with file boxes
  • Some travel may be required
  • Must have a valid driver's license
