Fall Associate Product Analyst Intern (2 positions - located in SF or Salt Lake City)-261233

Position/Project Overview
The National Data Hub (NDH) Product Management team establishes strategy, roadmap, capability and feature prioritization for the Big data platform for the Federal Reserve.
 
They perform the following tasks:
End-to-end product execution and client segmentation including:
  • Product Management
  • Financial Management
  • Communications (internal, external, executive)
  • Resource Management
  • Vendor Management
  • Customer Engagement
  • Product Marketing
  • The team employs cutting edge technologies that are part of the Hadoop ecosystem, which includes tools used for data integration, data modeling, and data analytics. The unit works with other with various business lines and also partners closely with National IT and IT groups from other districts. The interns will have an opportunity to employ their critical thinking and technical skills across many disciplines.
Responsibilities
  • Develop proof Of concept (POC) code on common utilities in Big Data environments
  • Assist in technical writing on National Data Hub product
  • Conduct ad hoc research and data support, and prepare datasets, charts and presentations for staff projects
  • Assist in testing and implementation of business projects 
  • Contribute to initiatives such as mining new data sources, developing data tools, evaluating data visualization software tools, or developing documentation
  • Be open to cross-training and assignments with other division groups
  • Assist in documenting business requirements and technical design documents
  • Develop presentations and slide content
  • Assist in developing and publishing customer facing content such as blog, communication, news flash etc.
  • Document business use cases for a big data solution
  • Develop visualizations using BI tools
  • Explore data to derive business insight
Position Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree (completed or in-progress) in computer science, MIS, engineering, statistics, economics, data science or related field
  • Passion for technology
  • Critical thinker and problem solver
  • Self-starter
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Product Management
  • Programming skills in Java, Python, and Scala etc.
  • Knowledge of SQL and No SQL databases
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) and work in a team environment
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments and shift gears when new priorities arise
  • Experience in MS Word, Excel, and PPT
  • Experience with statistical analysis or econometric modeling; experiencing using statistical software such as SAS or Stata
  • Understanding of algorithms for Machine learning, NLP etc.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and programming;
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and MicroStrategy in designing compelling visualizations in the form of dashboard and reports
  • Experience eliciting and documenting use cases
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies
