Residential Coordinator for the Blind/Visually

Principal Duties: As a Residential Coordinator you will: 
• Provide functional supervision to staff in the housing units. 
• Train staff how to implement written behavior interventions and educational strategies as determined in IEP process, collect data, and interact with students. 
• Train staff as to the expectations of working at USDB. 
• Communicate with parents, teachers, school nurses, social workers, special service and other support staff, and the director over Residential Services to coordinate activities and efforts. 
• Act as leader in emergency situations. 
• Coordinate student activities requested by Developmental Instruction Aide IIs (DIA II). 
• Establish and maintain a professional, yet warm environment for student living and employee working conditions. 
• Observe, evaluate, document, and act upon staff behaviors to encourage helpful behaviors and eliminate negative ones. 
• May drive a state motor pool vehicles to transport students and attend off-campus meetings. 
• Perform inspection rounds to secure facility and motor pool vehicles. 
• Meet with the director and other supervisors in pre-arranged weekly meetings. 
• Perform DIA II duties as required. 
• Provide supervision over Summer Camp.

• Ability to lead the work of others by monitoring, reviewing, training co-workers, delegating work, etc. 
• Act as parent and/or role model. 
• Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism. 
• Teach personal hygiene and other daily living skills. 
• Apply behavioral modification techniques. 
• Communicate clearly and effectively. 
• Enter, transcribe, record, store or maintain information in either written or electronic form. 
• Maintain a strict level of confidentiality. 
• Successful completion of a criminal background check. 

Compensation: $13.86 - $21.97 per hour based on experience. This position is eligible for a full benefits package including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, a retirement plan, paid leave to include annual, sick, and holiday pay, and other valuable benefits.
