Full Time and On Call Compliance Monitor -

Compliance Inspector – (Projects located in Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming)

Established in 1999, Transcon Environmental, Inc., offers environmental consulting services throughout the western United States with offices in Arizona, California, Utah, Wyoming and Virginia. Our highly successful team of environmental planners, biologists and archaeologists provides environmental planning, permitting, and compliance as well as infrastructure siting, Class I and Class III studies, Historic Property Treatment Plans, and environmental construction management and monitoring.
We are seeking a qualified Full Time Compliance Monitor to perform environmental compliance monitoring for electrical transmission and gas pipeline construction projects in Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
This full-time position is a non-exempt (hourly) position eligible for benefits such as healthcare insurance, 401k paid time off, holidays, etc.
Travel is required for all projects. Employees will be reimbursed for mileage and travel time.
Compensation is based on qualifications and relevant experience.
 
Location:
Positions will be based out of one of Transcon’s offices or remote from home, however, fieldwork is also performed. Open positions are in the following multiple locations:
Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming
 
Responsibilities:
·Inspecting and monitoring construction activities to ensure resource protection measures are being implemented to protect sensitive resources (i.e., archeological, paleontological, biological, and visual resources; waters; soils; unique geological features; etc.).
·Verifying sensitive archaeological sites are flagged for avoidance and ensuring rare plant populations are properly flagged and avoided.
·Tracking and reporting construction activities.
·Documentation of compliance/non-compliance with resource protection measures.
·Filing daily reports, photo documenting site conditions.
·Coordinating with other relevant parties.
 
Skills and Requirements:
·Degree in Environmental Resource field
·Experience in Construction Monitoring
·Competence using global positioning system units, maps, and iPads
·Ability to operate four-wheel drive vehicles on rough terrain and in winter conditions
·Perform work duties independently
·Exhibit strong communication skills
·Record of prior employment documenting the applicant is organized, motivated, dependable, and good at solving problems in a professional and timely manner
·Ability to work long hours
 
Experience in the following is preferred:
·Biological resources
·Implementing and/or monitoring erosion and sediment controls
·Cultural resources
·Paleontological resources
·Soils
·Restoration and reclamation
·Field experience on construction projects
·Familiarity with electrical transmission and distribution line construction activities
·Performing environmental inspections for construction monitoring
