Program Manager (Satellite Programs) - Job ID 10354

SDL is seeking applicants for a program manager with background in managing and developing Satellite programs. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day program needs for military space satellite systems programs. The program manager will work as part of a larger team with customers, external vendors, developers, engineers, managers, technicians, and support personnel. The ideal candidate would have experience in working with small satellite programs, satellite sub components, ground system architecture, etc.

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), a University Affiliated Research Center, has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for almost six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.

Key Responsibilities:
· Understanding a customer’s needs and issues, usually by direct interface
· Assembling and directing corporate resources toward execution of the contract
· Identifying, tracking, avoiding, and mitigating risks
· Trading issues of scope, approach, cost, and schedule
· Delivering the contracted result
· Managing daily activities of an engineering support and logistics team
· Pursuing new business development opportunities

Required Qualifications:
· BS in technical engineering, business, or related field
· Eight or more years of project management experience
· Demonstrated supervisory experience
· Proficiency in task management
· Ability to effectively lead, organize, and motivate a highly technical team
· Experience developing program schedules and controlling budgets to meet required deadlines
· Experience working directly with DoD and other government customers
· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while making direct contributions to team success
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent computer skills
· Willing to travel
· Current Top Secret DoD Security Clearance
· Must be a US citizen
· Must be able to travel

Preferred Qualifications:
· MBA with a technical engineering BS degree
· 10 years or more years of project management experience
· Demonstrated success managing high tempo projects
· Near-term availability
