Engineering Technician Split/2nd Shift – Circuit Board Manufacturing

Under the direction of the General Supervisor – Electronics, the Engineering Technician II – Electronics will be responsible for performing circuit board and controller repairs as identified throughout the manufacturing/testing process via test equipment and visual inspection per IPC Standards. This role will also need to learn and support/maintain the test equipment and test processes in assigned areas while working as part of a team to accomplish same goals and be a resource to help operators make continuous improvements to the department.

This position will work on 2d Shift/Split shift. This shift runs from approximately 12:30PM to 8:42PM with overtime as needed plus occasional Saturdays.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Provide technical support to critical equipment and work closely with production team lead and support staff to ensure production problems are resolved in a timely fashion and with a sense of urgency.
  •  Circuit board and controller rework/repair for small day-to-day quantities along with potential larger quantity rework projects.
  •  Communicate trending product issues to other manufacturing support and design engineering staff.
  •  Support introduction of new product by assisting with IPC inspection and process definition.
  •  Perform routine maintenance and/or cleaning of manufacturing process equipment and test fixtures.
  •  Occasionally support build of new functional test fixtures given detailed instructions.
  •  Basic assistance/operation of AOI equipment along with rework/repair of failures identified in the process.
  •  Provide required support for ISO 9001. Work closely with ISO coordinating team and production employees to ensure compliance to ISO 9001 standards and update of work instructions.
  •  Work on teams and individually to devise and execute cost savings and continuous improvement projects to help operators and improve all aspects of the manufacturing/testing process.
  •  Analyze, troubleshoot, and guide disposition of internal non-conforming product and discuss with other departments to ensure adequate manufacturing defect containment.
  •  Perform other related duties as required.
  •  Ability to work flexible hours with potential support on other shifts.

Skills/Requirements

  • Minimum two-year Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics or equivalent preferred or related experience.
  •  Strong communication skills.
  •  Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators and other similar electronic equipment preferred.
  •  Knowledge and understanding of electronic testing and analysis to the component level required.
  •  Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams required.
  •  Microsoft Office experience required.
  •  Experience as an Engineering Technician in a circuit board manufacturing environment preferred.
  •  Previous IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification. Any other IPC certifications a plus.
  •  Six Sigma certification a plus.
  •  Soldering skills, including fine-pitch QFP/QFN and BGA rework a plus.
