Assistant Editor

Utah Business is the leading publication for executives and entrepreneurs in Utah. Our print and digital publications reach millions of readers and feature award-winning, investigative journalism on the business and tech industries at the forefront of Utah's economy. 

Utah Business is looking for an assistant editor who can assist our editorial team in writing, assigning, and editing stories for our print and digital publications. UB editors are active members of the business community and are expected to meet and engage with executives, entrepreneurs, and investors on a regular basis―as well as keep a pulse on developing business stories.

The assistant editor will report to Utah Business’ editor-in-chief and be responsible for actively pursuing stories, engaging with the community, and being the face of Utah Business at events when necessary. We are looking for someone who can self-motivate, be creative, and go above and beyond to make this position even more amazing than we think it can be!

Job requirements
● Write 3-5 stories per month
● Edit upwards of 20 stories per month
● Pitch and assign writing projects to freelance writers
● Manage social media
● Host virtual webinars, roundtables, and other speaking events
● Attend business events, network with influential business leaders, and keep a pulse on
the business community in Utah

Job qualifications
● Degree in journalism or equivalent writing and editing experience
● Strong writing skills (please submit your portfolio along with your resume)
● Strong editing skills (there will be an edit test as part of the application)
● Social media skills
● Public speaking skills
