Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! Intern Fall/Winter 2022

Program Duration: October 3, 2022 - April 14, 2023
 
INTERN WILL LEARN AND BE EXPOSED TO: This internship will assist in the production of Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me and associated shows. Interns will learn the ins-and-outs of the show, experience life in an NPR writer’s room, hone their editing and production skills, get a feel for all aspects of running a live show and producing a podcast, and have a chance to pitch their own story ideas and jokes for the show. 
 
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the production of the weekly live show
  • Manage the Wait, Wait voicemail box and screen potential call-in contestants
  • Assist the host with guest research and prep materials
  • Gather tape as needed
  • Record/Edit/Distribute winner voicemails
  • Perform various administrative tasks
  • Pitch stories
  • Participate in daily show meetings
  • Assist Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me and Associated Shows with social media accounts
WHO CAN APPLY?
  • LOCATION: 
This internship has the flexibility to be onsite at our Chicago office, fully remote, or a hybrid version of the two based on the intern’s preference. Must be planning to work from the United States throughout the internship dates. 
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.

SCHEDULE
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - 9-5pm CT
  • Thursday 10am-10pm CT
  • Friday 10-3pm CT
