We develop industrial parks, manage several multi-tenant industrial facilities, facilitate real estate transactions, and promote job creation. As a key player in industrial real estate and economic development, our organization’s communications aim to spotlight the county as a prime location for business investment.
Internship Overview
We are seeking a motivated college junior or senior to support WCIDC’s marketing initiatives and internal projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in marketing, communications, economic development, and industrial real estate. The intern will gain hands-on experience in content creation, digital asset management, data integrity, and real estate marketing while contributing to projects that have a lasting impact on Westmoreland County’s economic growth.
Responsibilities
As a WCIDC Marketing & Communications Intern, you’ll work directly with our marketing team to assist with tasks such as:
Content Creation & Marketing Support
- Assist with writing, editing, and publishing social media content to promote WCIDC projects, industrial parks, and partner businesses.
- Draft press releases and website updates to engage stakeholders and the business community.
- Support the development of print collateral, including brochures, fact sheets, and flyers, ensuring branding and messaging consistency.
- Assist with property email marketing via weekly email campaigns.
- If experienced in video editing, create short marketing clips showcasing WCIDC sites, success stories, and economic development initiatives.
Digital Marketing & Real Estate
- Add and manage property listings on Westmorelandsites.com, gaining insights into industrial real estate marketing.
- Support the implementation of email marketing campaigns and maintain distribution lists.
Data & Asset Management
- Conduct a data-decay review of WCIDC’s Accounts and Contacts within Salesforce to ensure accuracy and integrity of stakeholder information.
What You’ll Learn

- Best practices for B2B content creation and digital marketing in a government-affiliated organization.
- CRM (Salesforce & Constant Contact) management and data hygiene in a professional setting.
- The fundamentals of industrial property marketing, including the use of property listing platforms.
- Project-management skills through involvement in special initiatives.
Qualifications
- Junior or Senior currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook) and content management.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is a plus.
- Video editing experience (optional); familiarity with tools like Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or similar.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Interest in economic development, commercial/industrial real estate, or public-sector marketing is a bonus.
